ZAO

History




There are at least two bands called ZAO:
1) The American Zao’s storied career was documented on the two-disc “The Lesser Lights Of Heaven” DVD and the luminaries of today’s heavy music scene are well aware of their debt to the band. Underoath and Unearth opened for Zao. Thrice and Fall Out Boy listened to Zao while growing up. As I Lay Dying invited Dan Weyandt to guest on their last album and Matt Heafy from Trivium joined the band onstage to perform “Praise The War Machine.”

Greensburg, Pennsylvania isn’t known for many things besides being in close proximity to the mall where George A. Romero filmed “Dawn Of The Dead.” And the renegade spirit, commentary on the world around us, and personal introspection that drives the bespectacled filmmaker lives and breathes within Zao, a band whose backwoods roots have allowed them to stay one step ahead of the trends by staying true to their isolated selves.

war of age

Combining the shredding guitar solos of traditional metal with all the brutality of today’s hardcore bands, War of Ages have grabbed our attention with their gripping grooves and tireless enthusiasm. Playing over 250 shows in 2005 alone, with bands such as Bury Your Dead, The Acacia Strain, As I Lay Dying and Throwdown. War of Ages released their self-titled debut War of Ages on Strikefirst Records last year that was received enthusiastically, and applauded by the press causing ‘Under The Volcano’ magazine to say: “This self-titled debut fuses brutal , bottom-heavy hardcore rage with explosive metal pyrotechnics perfectly; this is one of the best CD’s I have heard this year”.

War of Ages has earned a devoted fan base across the nation that are spreading the word and making War of Ages a band you need to see in 2006. They are newly signed to Facedown Records and preparing to record their new album at Trax East Studios

Underneath the gun

Underneath the Gun is a Christian Deathcore Band from Corona California that frequent the Showcase Theatre (the local venue of choice) and not to mention frequenting their churches.
Underneath The Gun have 3 records to their name: “You Prepare the Bodies, I’ll Get the Ice” and “The Awakening.” The latter being a full length LP released on This City is Burning Records which contained multiple tracks from their first EP, and the previous being an independently released CD.
The third release to be purged by Underneath the Gun, came alas their signing to Ferret Records (Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Gwen Stacy, etc.) dubbed “Forfeit Misfortunes”, it’s their first album for Ferret, released on Jan. 20, 2009.
