Slipknot

slipknot

History
Slipknot is a nine-piece alternative/nu metal band from Des Moines, Iowa (United States). Aside from their real names, members of the band are also referred to by numbers 0 through 8.(#0 Sid Wilson, #1 Joey Jordison, #2 Paul Gray, #3 Chris Fehn, #4 James Root, #5 Craig Jones, #6 Shawn Crahan, #7 Mick Thomson & #8 Corey Taylor)

Slipknot is known for its strange and often frightening image; the members wear matching uniform jumpsuits all of which have the UPC barcode 742617000027 printed on them (The barcode from their first album Mate, Feed , Kill, Repeat) and each has a unique mask which they are never seen without (on any official Slipknot material) until the interviews on their latest DVD - Voliminal: Inside the Nine, and partially on the music video for the song, Before I Forget. Each member has made a distinct change to their masks after each studio album. Several members have several masks that are interchanged during any one time period, most notably Chris (#3) and Sid (#0).

The band released many different DVDs, the first official one titled ‘Disasterpieces’ (named after the song Disasterpiece off ‘Iowa’) filmed at the London Arena on February 16th 2002 by over 32 cameras, including cameras fitted on each of the masks worn by the band. During this show Sid (#0) went into the crowd for the song Spit it Out and someone managed to get the camera from his mask, it was returned after the show.

Lostprophets

Photobucket

History
Pontypridd, Wales (1997 – present)
Lostprophets is an alternative rock band formed in Pontypridd, Wales in 1997. It was founded by current vocalist Ian Watkins and guitarist Mike Lewis. Initially, Watkins played drums for the band, although its success only began when he transferred over to lead vocals. They have released several demos, none of which have been produced commercially, three studio albums, and eleven singles (their most recent single is 4 AM Forever, which was released on April 23rd 2007).

The first of these albums, The Fake Sound of Progress, was originally recorded for the meager sum of £6000 and intended as a glorified demo, but after catching the ears of several major labels, the band re-recorded and re-released the album on a much wider scale through Columbia Records. This resulted in a backlash against the band that was exacerbated by the four-year gap between their first and second albums. When the second album, Start Something, was finally released, the band achieved even greater success, entering the UK album chart at number five, and earning the band international popularity, most notably in the United States. Their third album entitled Liberation Transmission was released on the 26th of June 2006 in the UK and entered the UK album chart at number one.

In April 2007 Lostprophets began the Final Transmission - the last round of touring of their current album with Aiden and Taking Back Sunday as the confirmed support.

The band’s first full studio album, Hybrid Theory, released in 2001, had a huge success, selling 42 million copies worldwide as of October 2009. Among its singles were One Step Closer, Crawling, and the band’s highest-selling single, In the End. In 2001, the band released “Frat party at the pancake festival”. A dvd with live stuff, extra footage of the band and the music video’s from Hybrid Theory. A remix album, Reanimation was released in 2002, and was based around Hybrid Theory songs.

The band’s second studio album, Meteora (released 2003), was not so successful as “Hybrid Theory”. Still, it sold 10 million copies worldwide, spawned the worldwide hit Breaking the Habit, and was the first Linkin Park album that was not fully rap driven.

A limited edition live album and DVD came next: Live in Texas. It was an opportunity for fans who have not been to the band’s gigs to see their performance live.

Limp Bizkit

Photobucket

history
limp Bizkit is a nu-metal band that started in 1995 and is often credited with the popularization of the genre. The band is currently signed to Geffen Records and was previously signed to Interscope Records; both labels are part of the Universal Music Group. Their albums have sold over 50 million copies worldwide.
Limp Bizkit consists of vocalist Fred Durst, guitarist Wes Borland, bassist Sam Rivers, drummer John Otto (Rivers’ cousin), and turntablist / samples player DJ Lethal. Wes Borland was with them for their first three albums but left in 2001, to be replaced by Mike Smith (formerly of the band Snot). However, in August 2004, Borland returned to Limp Bizkit. Following the release of The Unquestionable Truth EP in 2005, he parted with the band once more. In February 2009, Durst and Borland announced the return of Limp Bizkit’s original line-up, bringing with it the possibility of a new album and tour.
Early years
Contrary to popular belief, Limp Bizkit was not named for the fraternity game “limp biscuit”. They were named because a roadie once said “I’m so high, I feel that my brain is a limp biscuit”. The band was formed in 1994 by Durst, Rivers, Rob Waters (the 1st guitar player of the band) and Otto, touring in and around their hometown of Jacksonville. About this time, they became friends with rap music’s House of Pain, which included DJ Lethal. Soon after House of Pain broke up, DJ Lethal joined the band. They were discovered by KoЯn’s bassist Reginald Arvizu in 1995, backstage at a Jacksonville KoЯn concert. In 1996 they released a three song demo tape featuring the songs Pollution, Counterfeit, and Stuck which Fred Durst gave to Ross Robinson who was at the time working with KoЯn.
