The Unseen

History

Photobucket

Hingham, Massachusetts, United States (1993 – present)
Originally “The Extinct”, The Unseen is a punk band (formerly considered a street punk band from ‘93-‘00 that was formed in 1993 in Hingham, Massachusetts, United States. After their original lead singer, Marc Carlson, left the band they played as a four piece.
The Unseen formed in Boston 1993 and released the demo EP Too Young To Know…Too Reckless To Care in 1994. Two other 7” EPs followed, before the release of their debut full-length, Lower Class Crucifixion on A-F Records. Another two albums followed on the same label before they signed to BYO Records, and then, Hellcat Records. Each of their albums have sold moderately better than previous releases.
The quintet also released a best-of compilation for the European market in June 2000 titled Totally Unseen: The Best Of The Unseen, which contained two previously unreleased tracks.
For the release of their 2001 album The Anger And the Truth, “Chainsaw” re-accompanied the band in the studio to record the song No Evacuation, a song he originally wrote.
After being a member of the band for nearly ten years and writing most of the material on Lower Class Crucifixion, So This is Freedom?, and The Anger and the Truth, Paul Russo left the band after only contributing vocals to one track on their fourth album Explode. Citing differences in direction, he is now the leader of The Strings, an indie rock/folk band. He remains friends with his former bandmates.
Mark Unseen, the lead singer, formed and currently runs ADD Records. He also briefly joined the Maine street punk group A Global Threat as a second singer, and recorded the full-length What the Fuck Will Change? and Until We Die before deciding to concentrate on his duties with The Unseen.

NOFX

History
San Francisco, United States (1983 – present)
NOFX is a punk rock band from San Francisco, formed in 1983. The original lineup included singer/bassist Fat Mike, drummer Erik Sandin, and guitarist Eric Melvin. Since 1991, the lineup has remained the same, with El Hefe playing guitar and trumpet. They have released 11 full-length studio albums, 15 EPs, and many 7” singles. The group has sold over 6 million records worldwide, making them one of the most successful independent acts of all time.
The band’s sound is diverse, utilizing elements of skate punk, hardcore punk, reggae, and other music genres. Their lyrics generally satirize issues such as politics, society, various subcultures, racism, the music industry, and religion, often using a large amount of comedy.
NOFX’s first recording was a demo from 1983, produced by The Germs drummer Don Bolles, which did not sell any copies. They released their self-titled debut EP on Mystic Records in 1985, which was later re-released in 1992 as part of the Maximum RocknRoll CD. For a year, Erik Sandin left the band and was replaced by Scott Sellers, then Scott Aldahl. Dave Allen was in the band for about four months, until he died in a car accident. In 1986, the band released So What if We’re on Mystic!. Dave Casillas joined the band on second guitar in 1987 and was featured on the EP The P.M.R.C. Can Suck on This!, attacking the PMRC’s call for censorship of music. The original cover was an edited S&M photo, but the re-released version was changed to a photo of Eric Melvin.

Hatebreed

Photobucket
Biography

Hatebreed is a metalcore band from Bridgeport and New Haven, Connecticut. They formed in 1993

They released a 3 song demo and then a split with New York’s Neglect. Following those releases was a highly acclaimed EP called Under the Knife in 1996, and the following year released what many fans consider the definitive ’90s album of the genre, Satisfaction is the Death of Desire on Victory Records.

A constant touring schedule pushed them beyond the boundaries of the hardcore. The band still maintain tight connections to the hardcore and metalcore communities, evidenced by the lineup for the band’s 10 year anniversary show toads place (25 and 26 November 2005 in New Haven), which includes Neglect, One 4 One, Irate, and reunions by All Out War and Skarhead.

Singer Jamey Jasta is the host of the MTV2 television program “Headbanger’s Ball”, and runs Stillborn Records, home of Subzero, Full Blown Chaos, and Jasta’s own side project with Skarhead’s Lord Ezec called Icepick.

The band released their latest record, Supremacy, on August 2006 through Roadrunner Records. Jasta described it as an “all-out onslaught of completely adrenaline-charged, in-your-face brutality.”

The band headlined the second stage of Ozzfest in 2007.

Active members:

* Jamey Jasta - vocals (see also Kingdom of Sorrow, Icepick, Jasta)

Anti-Flag

Photobucket

History
Pittsburgh, United States (1988 – present)
Anti-Flag is a punk band from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed in 1988. Despite relatively modest beginnings and a back catalog of independent labels, the band has risen to steady popularity, having performed tours on four continents and signed to a major label. The current lineup includes Justin Sane (vocals/guitar), Chris #2 (vocals/bass), Chris Head (guitar), and Pat Thetic (drums). Past members include Lucy Fester, Andy Flag, and Jamie Cock.
New Red Archives released their first album, Die for the Government, in 1996. Andy Flag also left the band that year because of personal disputes between himself and Justin. Chris Head began filling in on bass in 1997 and then moved to guitar after Jamie Cock took over bass in 1998. The current lineup finalized in 1999 when Chris #2 replaced Jamie on bass. During this time they released albums on Go Kart Records and Fat Wreck Chords, as well as their own label, A-F Records. Of these, Underground Network (recorded by legendary punk producer Mass Giorgini), is widely considered as their “breakthrough” album, successfully connecting the band with its largest audience to that point.
On October 8, 2004, U.S. Representative Jim McDermott gave a speech in the House of Representatives, praising Anti-Flag for working to encourage young people to register and vote.

AFI

Photobucket

History
Ukiah CA, United States (1991 – present)
There is more than one artist with this name:

1) AFI (A Fire Inside) is an American rock band from Ukiah, CA that formed in 1991. Their career progression has taken them through notable and drastic changes in music styles from hardcore punk, to variants of post-hardcore and alternative rock, at times including some pop and electronica influences

While in high school in Ukiah, California, David Marchand aka Davey Havok (vocals), Mark Stopholese (guitar) and Vic Chalker (bass) formed an outfit called AFI in 1991. Stopholese suggested his friend Adam Carson, who had a drum kit, join the band. Stopholese learned guitar and Chalker learned bass, but Chalker was soon replaced by Geoff Kresge and AFI made their first EP in recording Dork (1992) with the now defunct Loose Change, which included future AFI guitarist Jade Puget.

AFI disbanded when its members attended different colleges. Kresge moved to New Jersey where he played with Blanks 77. After reuniting to perform a live show, the other members decided to drop out of college to play full-time with AFI. Between 1993 and 1995 they released several vinyl EPs/Compilations (Behind the Times; Eddie Picnic’s All Wet; Fly in the Ointment; This Is Berkeley, Not West Bay; AFI/Heckle; Bombing the Bay) independently.
