versus the Ocean

Photobucket

History
“Versus the Ocean” stands for the many things we as people will face, whether they be expected or unexpected. There are so many things about the ocean that we don’t know or understand, much like life. The possibilities are endless.

In life, at one point or another everyone will face some sort of adversity. In every new situation that comes along there can be many difficult experiences that follow. Every time you go through a new experience it’s almost like dreaming. Your emotions get deeply involved in something that you are so unfamiliar with, that it feels like you are living through them in an altered state of mind. Versus the Ocean’s debut full length album “If Only You Knew…” sends a clear message; keep your head above water, move forward, and grow stronger… Because the only other option is to be washed away into an ocean so vast it’s nearly impossible to get out.

We do this for the pure love of people. Everyone goes through personal struggle, and if we can touch just a few of them with our music and help them grow stronger, then everything we’ve worked for is worth every single sacrifice that we’ve had to make to be in this bandreadmore

The Early November

Photobucket

History
Hammonton NJ, United States (2001 – 2007)
2001-2007(Hiatus)
The band was formed by guitarists Arthur “Ace” Enders (who was born on April 19th and grew up in Bass River, New Jersey, before moving to Hammonton, New Jersey) & Jim Sacco along with bassist Sergio Anello and drummer Jeff Kummer in Hammonton, New Jersey in February 2001.
Together, they recorded a 5 track demo in Enders’ basement and sent it, along with a poorly edited videotape to only one label: Drive-Thru Records.
A couple of months passed while both Sacco and Anello had to budge for more skilled replacements, Steve Nakovich (guitar) and Mike Klemash (bass), until the band got in touch with Richard Reines of Drive-Thru, who luckily was visiting their hometown and agreed to meet with the band to give advice.
Stunned by what he had heard, Reines returned to California to discuss a possible signing with Drive-Thru co-owner Stefanie Reines. A few weeks and yet another line-up change later (Joe Marro joined for Nakovich), Drive-Thru signed The Early November and put them, despite their practically non-existent on stage experience, on 2002’s Skate and Surf Fest and on selected dates of the Warped Tour.
Klemash and Marro left the band before the recording of their debut EP For All of This. Anello re-joined on bass, while a temporary second guitarist was found in John Dubitsky. The CD came out on Drive-Thru Records in early November 2002. Enders recorded The Acoustic EP on his own, featuring acoustic versions of most songs off their debut EP, which was released a mere two months later.

Taking Back Sunday

Photobucket

History
Amityville, New York, USA (1999 – present)
Taking Back Sunday originally formed in Amityville, New York, USA in 1999. The band has gone through several lineup changes. Their first release came in 2001 with the Taking Back Sunday EP, and featured Antonio Longo on vocals, John Nolan on guitar and backing vocals, Eddie Reyes on guitar (the original founder of the band), Jesse Lacey on bass, and Stevie D on drums. This CD was distributed at Taking Back Sunday shows, but never achieved any noteworthy success. Following a change of lineup (Jesse Lacey to Adam Lazzara and Mark O’Connell replaced Stevie D) they released the follow-up album Tell All Your Friends, which was produced by Sal Villaneuva. The album gave the band a first taste of success in the scene. After the release, they played with bands such as Brand New (formed by former bassist Jesse Lacey) and The Used, as well as performing as a short stint on the 2003 Vans Warped Tour. Another change in their lineup occurred when singer/guitarist John Nolan and bassist Shaun Cooper left the band and formed what is now Straylight Run. Because of these departures, the band’s future was in doubt for some time. However, with the additions of guitarist/vocalist Fred Mascherino and bassist Matt Rubano, the band became stabilized.

The year 2004 proved to be a successful year for Taking Back Sunday, with the band opening for blink-182 and being one of the main headliners for the Vans Warped Tour. In addition, their second album, titled Where You Want to Be, was released on July 27, 2004 on Victory Records.

Senses Fail

Photobucket

History
New Jersey, United States (2001 – present)
Senses Fail is a New Jersey, United States based band. They are influenced by many spiritual beliefs, which manifest themselves in their lyrics and musical themes.

They released their first EP, From The Depths Of Dreams, on August 12, 2002 on ECA Records, followed by a re-release on April 29, 2003 on Drive-Thru Records. Their first proper album, Let It Enfold You, was released on September 7, 2004 on Vagrant Records. It too was re-released with five bonus tracks, including three acoustic versions of songs on Let It Enfold You.

Their latest album is Life Is Not A Waiting Room which was released on October 12, 2008.

On November 13, 2007, Senses Fail released a deluxe version of Still Searching, which featured new art, behind-the-scenes DVD featuring footage from the band’s headlining tour last fall, two additional previously digital-only songs, three new songs, and a cover of The Cranberries’s song ‘Salvation’.

The band was started by James (a.k.a. Buddy) Nielsen in 2001. After Garrett Zablocki responded to an ad posted by Nielsen on an internet message board, Dave Miller and Dan Trapp found their way into the band as well. Mike Glita, the ex-bassist for Tokyo Rose, was also welcomed into the band soon afterwards.

Early in 2006, Dave Miller left the band. He now manages a small, pop punk New Jersey band called Jet Lag Gemini. Currently playing guitar in his place is Heath Saraceno of Midtown.

On December 8th, 2007, Senses Fail’s bassist Mike Glita left the band to pursue his side project (Knights in Paris). He has announced, on myspace, that he will join the band Vampire for Hire, now known as Love Automatic, and continue to pursue the side project.

Although the band officially formed as Panic! at the Disco in 2004, the first incarnation of the band was formed in 2002 under the name “Pet Salamander”, with Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith, Brent Wilson, and Trevor Howell. It was during this time that Ryan Ross wrote “Time To Dance” and “I Write Sins Not Tragedies”, so it could be considered that the band formed in 2002.
In 2005, Panic! at the Disco, which at the time included Urie, Smith, guitarist/lyricist/vocalist Ryan Ross, and bassist Brent Wilson, was discovered by Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, who, after hearing demos the band uploaded to PureVolume, went to Las Vegas to hear the band play in their garage. He immediately signed them to his Fueled By Ramen label imprint, Decaydance. After their debut, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, was released, bassist Brent Wilson left the band. Although he claims he was fired, the other members deny this.

My Chemical Romance

Photobucket

History
Newark, New York NJ, United States (2001 – present)
My Chemical Romance (also known as MCR) are an American rock band from New Jersey, formed in 2001 by Gerard Way and ex-member Matt Pelissier, who plays drums on the first two records. Its current members include Gerard Way (vocals), Ray Toro (lead guitar), Frank Iero (rythem guitar), Mikey Way (bass), and Bob Bryar (drums).
Shortly after forming, the band signed to Eyeball Records and released their debut album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002.
They signed with Reprise Records the next year and released their major label debut, “Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge”, in 2004. The album was a major and surprising commercial success, selling over two million copies due in part to the success of the singles “Helena”, “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)”, and “The Ghost of You”.
The band followed this success with 2006’s “The Black Parade”, featuring their biggest hit “Welcome to the Black Parade”. While the band defines their sound as simply “rock”, the sub genre of the band’s recordings has been a subject of debate among fans, non-fans, and the media.

On March 7, 2007, Mikey Way married his fiancee Alicia Simmons, 23, backstage at the Orleans Arena, Las Vegas after the band’s show. The couple were married by James Dewees of Reggie and The Full Effect, who was ordained as a minister in order to perform the ceremony. James Dewees has recently been accompanying My Chemical Romance as a touring keyboardist.
