AFI

History
Ukiah CA, United States (1991 – present)
There is more than one artist with this name:

1) AFI (A Fire Inside) is an American rock band from Ukiah, CA that formed in 1991. Their career progression has taken them through notable and drastic changes in music styles from hardcore punk, to variants of post-hardcore and alternative rock, at times including some pop and electronica influences

While in high school in Ukiah, California, David Marchand aka Davey Havok (vocals), Mark Stopholese (guitar) and Vic Chalker (bass) formed an outfit called AFI in 1991. Stopholese suggested his friend Adam Carson, who had a drum kit, join the band. Stopholese learned guitar and Chalker learned bass, but Chalker was soon replaced by Geoff Kresge and AFI made their first EP in recording Dork (1992) with the now defunct Loose Change, which included future AFI guitarist Jade Puget.

AFI disbanded when its members attended different colleges. Kresge moved to New Jersey where he played with Blanks 77. After reuniting to perform a live show, the other members decided to drop out of college to play full-time with AFI. Between 1993 and 1995 they released several vinyl EPs/Compilations (Behind the Times; Eddie Picnic’s All Wet; Fly in the Ointment; This Is Berkeley, Not West Bay; AFI/Heckle; Bombing the Bay) independently.

AC / DC

Photobucket

History
(1973 – present)
AC/DC is an Australian rock band formed in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia in December 1973 by Angus and Malcom Young. Their albums have sold in colossal numbers; the total is now estimated at well over 200 million copies worldwide, with the 1980 album Back In Black selling over 21 million in the US alone and 40+ million worldwide, making it according to statistics the best selling album in the world ever released by a band. Their newest album released in 2008 entitled Black Ice is critically acclaimed even ahead of its release. The band has had two distinctive lead singers, and fans tend to divide its history into the “Bon Scott era (1974-80)” and the “Brian Johnson era (1980-present)”.

Most fans will agree that lead guitarist Angus Young is the face of AC/DC, appearing on the cover of most albums. His wild stage antics and schoolboy uniform have made him one of the most loved guitar players of all time. He has the unparalleled ability to captivate an audience of over 50,000 people with just the sounds of his guitar and his facial expressions. Most footage of Angus consists of him either doing Chuck Berry’s patented Duck Walk across the stage, or of his mop of hair flying around as he rocks through one of his famous solos. Aside from captivating solos, he has also created some of the most well-known riffs together with his brother Malcolm Young (who is the man behind the “Back In Black” riff, by the way).

A Static Lullaby

Photobucket

History

It has been seven years since the world was first introduced to the innovative and emotional stylings of A Static Lullaby. They are one of the few bands who can boast that they were there when a genre was being born. Even more special is that they have battled the flood of copycats, survived the test of time, and are are still standing today. Despite periods of loss, internal struggles, and a sometimes unforgiving industry, vocalist Joe Brown and vocalist/guitarist Dan Arnold, who co-founded the band in 2001, refuse to let anything stand in the way of their original dream of writing and playing music. Finalizing their lineup with bassist Dane Poppin and drummer Tyler Mahurin, A Static Lullaby is ready to put the past behind them and charge ahead traveling on the heels of lessons learned, mistakes forgotten, and endless possibilities.

The road to today has been a long and tumultuous one for the Chino Hills, California post-hardcore rockers. Forming in 2001 while still in their teens, A Static Lullaby launched themselves into the local scene of Southern California with a fresh sound that was all at once heavy, catchy, and flat out well-written. ASL found themselves on stage and performing a short two weeks after becoming a band and immediately began to set the bar too high for their peers to reach. In the blink of an eye the band went from writing in their living rooms to being in the radar of the music industry spotlight. Thanks to an intense live show, a strong self-released EP entitled “Withered”, and an eye-catching image, the music of A Static Lullaby did not go undetected for very long.

A Day To Remember

Photobucket

History
A Day to Remember (commonly abbreviated to ADTR) is a five-piece post-hardcore band from Ocala, Florida, signed to Victory Records. They are often said to have influences in many other genres other than post-hardcore, including pop punk, metalcore, and even melodic death metal. The band’s music has been described as “mixing death metal grunts with the brash melodies of pop-punk,” and a cross between “bouncy pop punk chugging metalcore.”

On June 2, 2009, the band announced that Tom Denney had left the band. The band stated that Denney left due to a lack of drive to tour, as well as to focus on his marriage, a family, and his recording studio. However, he will remain a part of the writing process. His official replacement is Kevin Skaff, formerly of Four Letter Lie. They are currently writing a new record.

Band Members:
Jeremy Mckinnon - Vocals
Neil Westfall - Guitar
Kevin Skaff - Vocals, Lead Guitar
